According to a recent Pew Research Center survey, one in five Americans say they are online “almost constantly.”  It’s not hard to understand why.  There’s no denying the practically unlimited wealth of knowledge that we have available at any given time thanks to the internet, whether through blogs, podcasts, webinars, and especially YouTube.  With all the information available at our fingertips in this day and age, does it still make sense to take the time to attend conferences?  Here are some reasons why it’s still important (and cool!) to attend conferences in the year 2017.

You can connect with peers on LinkedIn and Twitter, but there’s really no substitute for the connection that is sealed with a physical handshake.  Long-lasting personal connections can be made over a morning cup of coffee, breakout session, evening cocktail and anytime in between.  There will be attendees coming from all over the country or the world with different experiences and backgrounds but in the same industry, which can offer unique perspectives that will certainly be beneficial to your business.

Do you know it all?  Industry trends are constantly evolving, so probably not.  Conferences like the 2017 CBT Conference & Expo are designed to provide speakers, panels, and exhibitors on a wide variety of topics to expand on the latest industry tools and strategies that you can take back to your business and implement successfully.  While you could spend time looking for the same information online, there’s no other way to get this kind of indispensable information all in one place than attending an industry conference.

You follow industry leaders and motivational speakers on social media, but wouldn’t you rather get to interact with them in person?  Attending a conference can get you actual face time with some of the top influencers in the industry.  Do you have a question you’ve been dying to ask?  You’ll have your opportunity at a Q&A Session.  Or you can snap a picture with a speaker to take home as a souvenir.  Besides the actual knowledge you’ll get, you’ll have also gained memories that will last you a lifetime.
